The Generation One Acura Legend. 1986 - 1990

At a time when Honda was known for it's small economic vehicles in the North American market, they were set out to attempt something new. Honda decided to establish an "Up-Scale" Luxury division of it's vehicles. They named this division "Acura' in North America. Competiting with the likes of the already well estabilshed BMW and Mercedes, this would not be an easy task. What they needed was a vehicle, with power, luxury, low price, and most of all reliability, a Honda trait. The result, was the 1986 Honda Legend.

-The 1986 Honda Legend
+Powered by a V6 2.5L 151HP engine. Quickly the Legend's competitive pricing in the Luxury market, it's quality, power, and ride made it a hit. In the following 1987 year, Honda released a coupe version of the Legend.
+The Legend Sedan received the Coupe's 2.7L engine, with 161HP in 1988.

1988 Acura Legend Coupe
(Bryan's 1988 Coupe)

The 1987-1990 Acura Legend Coupe came with a more powerful powerplant than in the original Sedan's engine. This powerplant produced 161HP from a 2.7L V6 Honda Engine. It's many features, down to the smallest features, were very thought out, from remote radio control adjustment, to rear windows which rolled down, a hard feature to find on a 2-door coupe..

-You may be asking, "What made this car so special?"
To quote a 1990 Acura floor-room brochure, "The Acura Legend an automobile that says you've arrived, but weren't affected by the trip". True to that statement and it's name, the LEGEND, had styling beyond it's years, with it's powerful 161HP engine, power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering, 4 wheel disc brakes, ABS (On many trims), and 4 wheel independent double wishbone suspension. It is hard, if not almost impossible to find another vehicle out of this era which was much competition for the Legend. To futher quote a brilliant floor-room brochure, "To truly a appreciate a car like the Acura Legend, is to drive one". I could not have said it better myself.
